David Durbin

Senior Vice President, Partner Reinsurance Company

David is currently a Senior Vice President with Partner Reinsurance Company located in Greenwich Connecticut.  He is responsible for risk management, natural catastrophe modeling and research.  Current research interests include integrated risk management, capital allocation and economic value for insurers and reinsurers, and economic and social drivers of the frequency and severity of insurance loss trends.  Prior to joining Partner Re in 2006, David spent almost 9 years with Swiss Reinsurance where he held a variety of positions dealing with risk and product management for their property and casualty reinsurance business.  The most recent position was Chief Risk Officer for Swiss Re’s North and South America operations. Prior to that, David was Vice President and Chief Economist for the National Council on Compensation Insurance where he was responsible for research on insurer profitability and the economic determinants of workers’ compensation costs.

David’s research has been published in The American Economic Review, The Journal of Risk & Insurance, The Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, The Geneva Papers, Benefits Quarterly, and The Journal of Actuarial Practice.  He is an Associate Editor of Risk Management & Insurance Review.  His undergraduate degree is from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. and his Ph.D is from the City University of New York.
