Dónal Corcoran

Executive Vice President, AIG Canada

Dónal Corcoran assumed the position of Head of Consumer Insurance for AIG Canada in September 2013. In this role, Dónal has executive responsibility for the consumer insurance operation across all Canadian provinces and territories. This responsibility includes delivering the systems, operations and human resource platforms capable of achieving sustainable top and bottom line results over the long term in Canada, across all lines of business. Dónal also serves in advisory roles for AIG’s global employee resource group for Young Professionals and global ‘Millennial’ segmentation efforts.

Prior to this role, Dónal served as Consumer Head for Central America and the Caribbean. Based out of San Juan and Panama, he was responsible for over thirty-five minor lines across eight operating countries as well as multiple non-admitted markets in the geographical area.  He also led the design, set-up and implementation of the Central America and Caribbean ‘cluster,’ which sought to leverage product management, individual talent and functional area support across borders to achieve process efficiencies and economies of scale.

Having travelled extensively in his fourteen years at AIG, Dónal started his career in Finance before taking a Region-wide Management role in Operations at the Latin America hub office in Miami. Later he switched to the Accident & Health (A&H) profit center, holding varying roles of increasing underwriting responsibility culminating as Regional Underwriting Manager for the entire A&H portfolio. He later relocated to Puerto Rico in 2010 as Profit Center Manager for Consumer in field operations.

Dónal holds a Bachelor’s degree with majors in Economics and Management and a Master’s degree with Honors in Finance, both from the University College of Cork in Ireland. Prior to joining AIG, he served four years at Andersen, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, specializing in financial services. In June 2016, Dónal was awarded the ‘Leader of Tomorrow’ distinction by the International Insurance Society at their Annual Global Insurance Forum in Singapore.
