Douglas Hogan

CA, Senior Vice President & CFO, The Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company

Mr. Hogan joined The Dominion in July 1992 as Assistant Vice President and Controller, responsible for financial reporting and tax. In 1994, he assumed responsibility for all remaining Finance functions including financial planning and analysis and financial systems. He was appointed to the position of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 1997 and to his current role of Senior Vice President and CFO in 2006.

In his current role, Mr. Hogan is responsible for Finance, Compliance and Risk and Control Services and Information Services. He reports to the President and CEO and to the Board of Directors. In addition to contributing to The Dominion’s overall strategy as a member of the Executive team, Doug’s main responsibilities include financial strategy, financial reporting, tax planning and compliance, financial planning, budgeting, performance analysis and broker financing. Doug provides input and oversight to the Compliance, Risk & Control and Information Services departments which report to him.

Prior to joining The Dominion, Mr. Hogan completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Toronto in 1987, and joined Price Waterhouse, where he worked for five years in the firm’s audit practice.

Mr. Hogan is a member of the Insurance Bureau of Canada’s (IBC) Financial Affairs Committee. He participates on IBC working committees involving capital regulation and financial reporting issues. Mr. Hogan is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants’ (CICA) Task Force on Insurance Accounting which advises the CICA with respect to the International Accounting Standards Board’s development of a comprehensive insurance accounting standard. Mr. Hogan has contributed articles in industry publications and has presented at industry conferences on financial topics.
