Gerry Wolfe, a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of Canada has been the in the P&C business since 1970. He admits that this is likely 6-8 years too many for any civilized person!!
Gerry is currently Independent Chairman of the Board for Arch Insurance Canada Ltd….a unit of Arch Capital Group Ltd, of Bermuda. Previously, he served as President and CEO of Arch Canada.
He has worked in the primary P&C field with Aetna Canada and The WR Berkley Group as well as having spent 3 years in a senior role with the Canadian based MGA, Creechurch International Underwriters.
However, Gerry spent most of his career in the reinsurance assumed business, having spent 30 years with General Re, part of the Berkshire Hathaway group. At General Re, he assumed (pun intended!) a number of roles, including senior positions in facultative underwriting, treaty marketing and served as the Chief Agent for the Canadian Branch in Toronto.
Gerry has been an advocate of improving the knowledge and educational skills base of younger folks in our industry. He is a past Chairman of the Insurance Institute of Canada, and has taught a number of insurance courses over many years.
