John Cairns is Chubb Insurance Company of Canada’s Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary and in that role is responsible for managing Chubb Canada’s legal affairs, including legal and regulatory compliance, risk management, corporate litigation, policy wording management and oversight over compliance with the company’s code of business conduct.
John’s experience prior to joining Chubb Canada includes insurance defence litigation (both in-house and in private practice) and litigation management.
John speaks frequently at conferences on risk management, corporate governance and ethics and for several years has been a judge of the ethics competition at the Queen’s University Inter-Collegiate Business Competition. He is the Chair of the Insurance Bureau of Canada’s Regulatory Affairs Committee and its Regulatory Compliance Working Group. John is a Chartered Insurance Professional, and is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel and the Institute of Corporate Directors.
