Phil Baker is the president and a board member of Creechurch International Underwriters, a leading specialty insurance underwriting firm focusing on emerging technology firms and knowledge based businesses. Phil oversees the day-to-day operations of Creechurch including underwriting, strategic initiatives and business development.
Phil joined Creechurch in 1997 as its first underwriter and rejoined in 2010 following several years as a senior executive with another multinational insurer. Phil has underwritten most types of specialty insurance including errors & omissions, directors’ and officers’ liability, fidelity insurance and kidnap and ransom insurance.
Phil has twenty years’ experience underwriting specialty and commercial insurance. He is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriters Society (PLUS) and he participates in industry seminars and conferences throughout Canada. Phil holds an honours BA from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University.
