Susan Meltzer

Assistant Vice President, Risk Management, Aviva Canada

Susan began her career in insurance and risk management in 1975. She has performed the risk management function at a number of major corporations and joined Aviva Canada as Assistant Vice-President, ¬Risk Management.

Active in the Risk & Insurance Management Society, she served as the President of the Society for the 1999-2000 term and currently represents RIMS on the board of the International Federation of Insurance and Risk Management Associations, holding the position of Chairman.  She is the recipient of the 2001 Don Stuart Award for outstanding achievement in risk management and the 2005 Goodell Award for lifetime achievement in the field.

Susan develops and presents workshops that constitute credits towards the RIMS Fellow designation. In addition, she has taught the Risk Management Program at the University of Toronto since 1987 and has been a Spencer “Risk Manager In Residence” at a number of major universities in the United States and Canada.

Susan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Carleton University in 1975.
