WICC at NICC in 2018

WICC’s Silent Auction fundraiser at the National Insurance Conference of Canada held at the Hilton Lac-Leamy, Gatineau, QC in October raised the bar!

Silent auction items ranged from technology and sports tickets to signed jerseys and unique getaways. Although there were many desirable, one of a kind items, what really kept the buzz high and bidders engaged was the live auction technology that attendees leveraged via their own phones! This innovative approach allowed for item previews, live updates and group reminders on items of interest while guests still enjoyed their meals table-side. Luckily so, this year’s improved format also helped to build and sustain healthy competition for the covetable auction items!

WICC could not have experienced such success year over year without the incredible support of all of you, our industry colleagues as well as the very generously donated auction items. A very special and important thank you is also extended to NICC for their annual donations in lieu of speaker certificates. These generous contributions along with WICC’s online auction, helped push WICC’s fundraising results at NICC beyond last year’s achievements. That’s fantastic!

“It has been an absolute pleasure to work with the phenomenal volunteers running the auction through the years,” shared Laura Viau, Vice President, Administration and Events for MSA Research and NICC event coordinator. “For more than 10 years, I’ve had an up-close and personal glimpse into the amount of time, energy and heart that goes into hosting the silent auction, and it is truly inspiring. After working so closely together, I’m proud to call several of the volunteers ‘friends’ and the fact that, since 2009, WICC has raised $175,000 at the NICC is just the icing on the cake. It truly feels amazing to be a part of something that is doing so much good; the entire MSA team and I are so pleased to contribute to WICC’s success in any way we can.”

Marilyn Horrick, WICC Ontario Co-Chair also stated that “WICC couldn’t have done it without our industry’s thoughtful contributions as well as your eager bidding interest come event day! The NICC has been so steadfast in supporting the Canadian Cancer Society via WICC and we are sincerely grateful. To be continually selected as their charity of choice year over year is a blessing our Board is truly grateful for.”
