Mayor George LeBlanc was born and raised in Moncton. Upon graduating from Moncton High School, he went on to receive a bachelor of business administration from the University of New Brunswick in 1978.
After working for the Royal Bank of Canada, he returned to the University of New Brunswick to obtain his law degree in 1984, and received numerous awards and scholarships.
Mayor LeBlanc is a partner in the Moncton law office of Cox & Palmer.
Mayor LeBlanc has been involved in many community organizations, including Rotary (member since 1988), co-chair of the Mammography Matters campaign for the Friends of the Moncton Hospital, President of Moncton Headstart Foundation, President of Headstart, Director of Enterprise Greater Moncton, President of the Moncton West and Riverview Rotary Club, deputy chair of the Healthy Returns Capital Campaign for the new Ambulatory Care Centre of the Moncton Hospital, Vice-President of the Moncton Boys and Girls Club, Director of the Moncton Youth Residences, and member of the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission in 2002-03.
Mayor LeBlanc was also the recipient of the Special Award for outstanding contribution to Multicultural Harmony from Multicultural Association of the Greater Moncton Area in 2002.
He was previously a member of Moncton City Council for nine years.
His wife Kathy is a student counselor at Bernice MacNaughton High School. Together they are proud parents of two children, Jordan, a teacher in Moncton, and Brittany, an Aerospace Engineer with the Department of National Defense.
