Guy Vézina

SVP, General Insurance, TD Insurance

Graduating with a Major in Actuarial Science from Laval University in Quebec City, Guy obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 1980. He began his career in August 1980 as an actuarial student for Alliance Mutuelle-Vie, an insurance company.

In his capacity as Actuary, he joined the “SAAQ” (Quebec Public Auto Insurance) in December 1980, the “IGIF” (Inspector General of Financial Institution) in January 1982, and the “CSST” (Workplace Health and Safety Commission) in 1988. He also acted as Consulting Actuary with Blondeau & Cie from 1989 to 1990.

Guy joined Meloche Monnex in 1990 as Vice-President and Actuary. In 1998, he was nominated Vice-President, Business Development and, in 1999, Senior Vice-President, Business Development. He was further appointed Senior Vice-President, Operations and Business Development in 2002.

In November 2007, TD Bank Financial Group created “TD Insurance”, combining P & C, Life, and Health insurance businesses for which Guy was appointed CoChief Operating Officer, co-responsible for the Property & Casualty (“P & C”) operations. In this capacity, he was mainly responsible for the Product Management, Pricing, Operations and Clients Services.

He was appointed Senior Vice President within TD Bank Financial Group in June 2008.

Member of the Senior Management Partnership since 1999, he has been leading the Actuarial Operations and Underwriting, Research & Statistics, Resources Optimization and Business Strategies which include planning & coordinating sales processes, supervision, follow-up and realization of annual sales budgets and CSC/Claims staffing budgets, facilitating synergies between CSC, Marketing, Actuarial and Affinity Market Group teams. Guy has also sponsored numerous IT projects.

On November 1, 2009, Guy was appointed Senior Vice President, General Insurance Products. In this role, Guy is leading the formulation of the strategy, policy and overall direction for General Insurance products, including Home and Auto. Guy has full accountability for pricing volume, market share and profitabilityfor this segment.
