Lee Samis, principal of Samis & Company, Barristers and Solicitors, graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School of York University and was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1978. His practice encompasses insurance related matters including defence of insureds, representation of numerous insurers, representation of insurance trade organizations and insurance regulators.

Mr. Samis has been extensively involved in the issues dealing with reform of automobile insurance in Canada. He was also a member of the Ontario Government’s Task Force on Long Term Care and Rehabilitation and was a member of the Accident Benefits Advisory Committee under the Ontario Insurance Act. Mr. Samis has also created and presented certificate programs for the Insurance Institute of Ontario in Accident Benefits, First Party Injury Coverage, Rehabilitation, Bill 164 and Environmental Law and Insurance.

Mr. Samis is a member in good standing of The Law Society of Upper Canada, Canadian Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, The Advocates’ Society, the Metropolitan Toronto Law Association and the Arbitration and Mediation Institute of Ontario Inc. Mr. Samis has been involved in the representation of insurance industry interests in the development of automobile insurance since 1991.

Mr. Samis is a past member of the Council of The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, is a contributing General Editor to Butterworths Personal Injury Practice Manual, and is past president of the Canadian Defence Lawyers.
