Peter B. Walker is a director in the New York office. He has served a wide range of financial institutions in the United States, Canada, Asia, and Europe on strategic, operational, and organization issues. His clients have included property and casualty, life, and multiline insurers, as well as financial service conglomerates. For many years Pete was the leader of McKinsey’s Worldwide Insurance Practice and went on to lead the New York office complex.
Pete has authored a number of articles including “The Game Has Changed,” “Behind the Property-Casualty Bloodbath,” “Industry at the Crossroads,” “The Group Insurance Myth,” “The Group Insurance Myth Revisited,” “Late-Night Thoughts on the Property-Casualty Industry,” “The Morning After,” “Dreams,” “The Journey,” and “The Journey, Revisited.”
Before joining McKinsey, Pete was a consulting pension actuary with Towers, Perrin, Forster & Crosby, and prior to that, he was in the group insurance department at Connecticut General Life Insurance Company. He graduated from Union College in 1965 with a degree in mathematics and is an associate in the Society of Actuaries.
