Peter Braid was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) in February, 2017.
Peter has a diverse background in government, public service, and private industry with an extensive track record of policy development, advocacy, and consensus building, as well as experience in the insurance sector.
Peter served for seven years as a well-known and highly respected Member of Parliament representing the riding of Kitchener-Waterloo. During his time in government, he was appointed by the Prime Minister as Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure & Communities. He was also the founding Chair of the Insurance Caucus on Parliament Hill, which provided important stakeholders in the insurance sector with the opportunity to speak directly with legislators to help shape public policy.
Prior career roles include head of global business development at a Waterloo high-tech firm, a Director at Sun Life Financial, and an official at the Immigration & Refugee Board of Canada.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts (International Relations) from the University of Toronto and completed the Not-for-Profit Governance Essentials Program through the Institute of Corporate Directors and the Rotman School of Management.
