Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is the first step in a capital preservation process that involves the identification and quantification of risk from all sources including underwriting, investments, operational and reputation. ERM metrics are being used to enhance strategic business decisions involving reinsurance strategy, business growth targets, investment allocations and new products/markets. Boards of Directors endorse ERM from a corporate governance perspective, while rating agencies and regulatory authorities are requiring ERM since it typifies astute management. This session will examine insurer approaches to managing operational risk, financial risk and capital in today’s environment. Q&A will follow.
